Autorski spektakl Bartosza Porczyka, jednego z nowych aktorów w zespole Teatru Polskiego i zwycięzcy XXVII
Przeglądu Piosenki Aktorskiej (2006).

Inspiracją przedstawienia była piosenka Smycz zespołu Maanam. W warstwie muzycznej pojawiają się m.in. utwory
Łona, Marka Grechuty oraz grup Myslovitz, Lady Pank i Fasolki.

Tytułowy przedmiot oraz jego funkcja symbolizują zniewolenie współczesnego człowieka przez jego uzależnienia. Spektakl wykorzystuje krótkie monologi aktorskie, które pomogą połączyć piosenki w spójną całość tematyczną i pozwalają na stopniowe przechodzenie z jednego tematu w drugi.

SMYCZ (LEASH)
Presented by Teatr Polski as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival 2007

Addiction, mental health and sexual deviance are all too familiar captors. But where there is captivity, there must be freedom too. With choreographic and choral genius, Polish actor Bartosz Porczyk, along with his clerically garbed band, performs the Irish premiere of Smycz or ‘Leash’.

Featuring live music and a strong original score, this brilliantly staged performance sees its quirky and wayward characters strive to break away from the leashes that restrain them. Unflinchingly honest, Smycz’s endearing ‘freaks’ give their audience a glimpse into what drives their behaviour and, perhaps, a taste of what may lie beneath our own exterior.

A satirical take on stereotypes, generational conflict and societal norms, this bold production is presented in Polish with English translation.
