Metamorphosis
- Folky Crossroads

18 April 2008
20.00
Morrison Hotel
Tickets €5

Cultural exchange and cross fertilisation of ideas has always been the main characteristic and the condition sine-qua-non for the cultural and individual developments in Europe.

The new multiculturalism experience both in Ireland and many other European countries allows us draw on this tradition and to give it a contemporary shape.

To live culture together is the mission of ArtPolonia and to realise it we create spaces where international artists and audiences can meet in an unusual, appealing and energising environment.

At the concert we will follow in the footsteps of Western and Eastern European folk musicians – Celts, Eastern nomads, Romas and Jews.

We will listen to songs and melodies from different ethnic groups living and travelling through Poland. Our journey will bring us to Ireland – to the Celtic musical tradition.

What happens then? What do we have in common? What are the differences? How can we enrich each other’s experiences and cultures?

There will be also moments of open ethno-jazz improvisation involving free and contemporary arrangements. The traditions will melt together in the here-and-now.

Please join us in this shared experience evoking the senses through music and dance.

We promise an event of high energy, artistry of performance, unique instrumentation in an extraordinary space for meeting new people and exploring new ideas.

Kreowanie żywej kultury – to główne zadanie ArtPolonii i aby je realizowa ć tworzymy przestrzenie, w których spotykaj ą si ę mi ędzynarodowi arty ści i publiczno ść, aby bra ć udział w niecodziennych, porywaj ących i pełnych energii wydarzeniach.

W czasie koncertu pod ążymy śladami zachodnio i wschodnio europejskich muzyków ludowych Celtów, wschodnich nomadów, Romów, Żydów.

Wsłuchamy si ę w żyw ą i pełna energii muzyk ę tradycyjna z Polski i wschodnich regionów Europy, w jej surowe, akustyczne brzmienie zaprawione szczypt ą melancholii i t ęsknoty za dawnymi czasami.
